With more than a dozen Live stream linked to E3 in the next few days all eyes are on new announcements and wondering what games are coming out this holiday season, but let’s not forget the great games we can play now. One of these titles, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order just received a surprise launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and has been updated to take advantage of these powerful machines.
In one publication on the official websiteRespawn details the improvements, claiming that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will have faster load times and higher resolution textures and assets. You can also play the game in a new Performance Mode that delivers 60fps action at 1440p. If you turn off the Performance mode, it runs at 30 frames per second with a boost to 4K. For the Xbox Series S, playback is locked at 60 fps at 1080p.
If you have previously purchased Jedi: Fallen Order on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you will receive the Intergenerational Upgrade for free and can download it now. You will also be able to keep your backup of the previous generation.
EA says over 20 million players have viewed Jedi: Fallen Order since its launch in November 2019. I reviewed the game when it hit, giving it a score of 8.75 out of 10, and said, “Respawn’s maiden journey with Star Wars is largely a success. I couldn’t let go of this game, both for the sake of exploring and wanting to see where the story has taken me. Next. Inspirations from Dark Souls, Uncharted, and Metroid Prime come together to create something unique that works incredibly well for this beloved license. Like most spaceships in this universe, Jedi: Fallen Order could use a little polish, but the rust doesn’t stop it from roaring with excitement. “
Hopefully we’ll hear about a sequel or another Repsawn Star Wars game in the coming days as E3 unfolds.
